Remembering when the Greensboro Children's Museum opened in May 1999 | Vault Visit

On May 15, 1999, the Greensboro Children's Museum opened!

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So, to celebrate, we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

May 15, 1999, changed the family entertainment landscape in Greensboro.

It's the day the Greensboro Children's Museum opened! The venue features 3500 square feet of displays and kid-focused fun in eight galleries.

It cost $4.6 million and three and a half years to complete.

It opened without the outdoor play area we now know as the edible schoolyard, but that didn't stop anyone from having lots of fun!

The museum was renamed the Miriam P. Brenner Children's Museum in February 2023.
