GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's been a really dry stretch of weather for the Piedmont since Hurricane Helene rolled through at the end of September. The Triad wrapped up October, as the fourth driest October on record for our area. Finally, we're getting an opportunity for some much needed rain later this week. The WFMY News 2 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert Day for Thursday. Here's what you need to know:

WHAT:

For the first time in a while we have a strong weather system loaded with moisture heading our way. Low pressure will track to our north Wednesday and through the day on Thursday, dragging a cold front with it. This will bring a round of much needed, beneficial rain to the Piedmont, but make for a nuisance of a day.
