WEATHER SUMMARY

After today, our mild weather takes a hiatus for a while, as our coldest air of the season arrives with a strong cold front tonight. Get ready! You'll need the winter coat for the next few days. A few scattered showers will be possible later this evening as our cold front rolls through. Temperatures will start to fall and wind will pick up almost immediately late this evening. Winds gust 30-35 mph overnight and into Thursday.

Gusty winds are likely Thursday with high temps in the low 50s, making it feel like the 40s all day. Friday morning wind chills will drop into the upper 20s, with air temperatures likely plummeting near or just below freezing. We'll be staying in the 40s to near 50 all day for Friday. By the weekend our weather starts to moderate a bit with high temps in the mid and upper 50s, which isn't unusual, but we just haven't had any real cold weather yet this season.

The North Carolina mountains can expect snow showers at times Thursday through Saturday. Accumulating snow is likely at the higher elevations.

The normal low is is 38, and the normal high is 59.
