Is your area impacted? Flash Flood warning is now extended to the areas of the Triad

In an Emergency Alert, The National Weather Service has in effect for the Triad a flash flood emergency warning into the morning

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Parts of Greensboro got three to five inches of rain in just 90 minutes or so late Friday night.

To put it in perspective that's equivalent to the amount of rain the Triad got from Debby on Thursday over the course of the day in a fraction of the time.

We had crews out Friday night getting a first hand look at the flash flooding. At a residence, Retreat at Cooper Creek, cars were in a parking lot submerged in flood water and drivers even trying to escape the waters by driving through it.

However, the  North Carolina Emergency Management officials caution against driving in flood waters.

Over on Buckhorn drive, a resident told our crews he came home to his fence damaged from the flood waters.

He said individual pieces of brick were scattered in the lawn and water was still streaming as the he worked to clean up the damage.

"It could have been worse but luckily nothing is wrong with the house but again a fence that will probably be in the $20,000 to $30,000 range to replace," said the resident.

Because of the heavy rains, an Emergency Alert sent out by The National Weather Service has extended the flash flood warning in our area until 7:45 this morning. They caution people to not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area that is subject to flooding or under evacuation order.
