GREENSBORO, N.C. — Towering a parking lot off Guilford College Road, sits what will be the fourth TopGolf in the state of North Carolina.
Folks living in the Triad will no longer have to drive to bigger cities to play, they just have to make their way down I-40.
Within the last few days, workers have installed the huge poles and the netting that surrounds the facility, which also operates as a restaurant and bar. The driving range will have 72 outdoor hitting bays spanning two levels.
WFMY News 2 does not know the exact opening date yet, but with construction underway, Greensboro is inching closer to opening day.
It's something that Scott Lynch in Asheboro is excited about. He said this location is only 30 minutes from him, whereas a trip to Charlotte would take at least an hour and 30 minutes.
He said he can't wait to see the crowds it'll bring in from all over the Triad.
"The location is within 10 miles from four major universities which is a great, great deal for kids. They can go play some golf, eat some BBQ wings, have a few drinks and just, don't have to go to Charlotte no more," Lynch said.
Nearby businesses are also eager to see what comes next.
Cooper's Ale House is connected to the Wyndham Garden Hotel, not even five minutes from the Greensboro TopGolf location.
General Manager Chris McDonough said they'll be offering 15% off food for people who come in with a same-day TopGolf receipt, making Cooper's Ale House what McDonough calls 'The 19th Hole.'
He said it's a win-win for everyone.
"Progress, that's all it is. It's just gonna bring more people to Greensboro. It's gonna bring more people to this area of Greensboro and that can't be bad for us, both hotel and restaurant, it's going to be great," McDonough said.
Greensboro's TopGolf location is set to hire roughly 300 people when it opens.
There are plans down the road to make this location part of a shopping center.
