HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man was charged after police said he crashed into a High Point church on the 1100 block of Stanton Place and drove off.

A video from the Church of God of Prophecy showed serious damage to the front steps with a mess outside the front of the church.

Bits of railing and bricks were also scattered across the ground with remnants of the vehicle visible.

High Point police said they consider the incident a hit-and-run.

Officers said arrested Luis Coronel Sunday night. He faces misdemeanor charges of failure to report an accident, an expired license, and driving without insurance.

He has since been released, according to police.

Investigators said about $10K worth of damage was a result of the crash.
