Unidentified body found in vacant home in Lexington

Officers responded to the vacant residence on North Salisbury Street regarding a death investigation.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — An unidentified body was found at a vacant home in Lexington on June 20. 

Officers responded to the vacant residence on North Salisbury Street regarding a death investigation.

According to the 911 call, two people went to into the house to escape the heat that day and found a deceased body inside the home. 

Officers confirmed that a body was found in a bedroom in the home and that the body was in advanced stages of decomposition. 

There are currently no signs or evidence of foul play. 

Detectives are currently working leads to identify the person so that appropriate notification can be made to family. Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call the Lexington Police Department.
