DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — UPDATE: Davidson Co. deputies said a suspect is dead following a two-hour standoff at a winery Monday night.
Deputies said there was a domestic dispute between a husband and wife and 911 was called around 4:30 p.m.
Officers responded to the Grape Escape Vineyard, which was owned by the couple.
The husband, identified as Neil Thomas, 63, fired shots and his wife ran from the home. Thomas fired shots at deputies and deputies fired back shooting Thomas in the hand. That's when the standoff began.
Deputies tried to talk to Thomas and surrounded the scene. They saw Thomas shoot himself inside the home as well as shoot and kill four Great Dane dogs.
Highway Patrol responded with manpower and a helicopter, according to deputies.

A suspect is dead after a shooting in Lexington Monday, according to deputies.
Davidson County deputies said a call came in about a domestic situation on the 3500 block of Bethesda Road in Lexington. The caller said there were shots fired in the area.
Deputies said they were called to assist a victim, and a shooting happened.
After a prolonged standoff the suspect, the suspect was later found dead inside a home.
As protocol in all officer-involved shootings, the Sheriff’s Office contacted the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, which responded to the scene to conduct an independent investigation of the incident.
This investigation is ongoing.
