WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A student was stabbed with a pair of scissors at Carver High School in Winston-Salem Thursday morning, according to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said around 10:20 a.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) found a female student bleeding from several places, and administration provided aid until EMS arrived on the scene.

During an investigation, deputies said a fight broke out between two female students and one of them pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed the other multiple times.

Forsyth County deputies said her injuries were non-life-threatening and she was taken to a local hospital.

The student suspect in this stabbing is facing one felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious bodily injury and one count of misdemeanor weapon on campus.

A Secure Custody Order was issued for the juvenile suspect where she was taken into custody and sent to a Juvenile Detention Center.

The Carver High School Principal sent the following messages to parents:

Good afternoon, Carver Nation, this is Dr. Maxwell, your principal. Earlier today our school was placed on HOLD after we learned two students got into an altercation inside one of our restrooms. One student produced a pair of scissors and injured the other. The student with the scissors was immediately located and will face consequences. The injured student was transported to the hospital, and we understand the injuries are not life-threatening. The student is alert and responsive. No other students were involved in the altercation. Please know the HOLD was out of extreme caution so we could investigate and clear the scene appropriately. Student safety is our top priority, and these actions will not be tolerated.  We appreciate students and parents making us aware anytime there is something that concerns them.
