FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A man is charged with felony concealment of death after accidentally hitting a man with his car and throwing his body in the back seat of his car in 2023, deputies say.
On March 10, 2023, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office found a body in the back seat of a car after being alerted by citizens at a home on Kenbridge Drive.
After investigation, deputies determined the body was 23-year-old Tyler Joseph Burdi from Winston-Salem.
Chase Oliver Martin, 25, and Burdi went to the house together. Later, Martin went looking for Burdi and accidentally hit him with his car while leaving the house. After hitting him, he put Burdi's body in the back and drove off without seeking medical attention.
As Martin was trying to go back home, he was stopped by Forsyth County deputies.
On January 18, 2024, Martin was charged with one felony count of concealment of death after a thorough investigation and autopsy results.
On Tuesday, deputies were informed that Martin was arrested in Surry County without incident the day prior. He was given a $10,000 bond and is to appear in court on Feb. 5.
"The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is committed to being a voice to those who no longer have one and bring justice to those who have been unjust," Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough wrote in a statement.
Anyone with information related to any suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office at 336-727-2112.
