Man accused of shooting brother receives $1M secured bond

Deputies said the brother is at the hospital in critical condition.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of shooting his brother appeared in a Guilford County courtroom on Monday. 

Bradley Martin, 33, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. 

On Monday, he was given a $1 million secured bond and ordered to have no contact with his brother. During court, investigators said a family member told deputies she heard the siblings arguing, followed by a gunshot. Deputies later found a shotgun and a handgun inside the home. 

The shooting happened Saturday night on Ewing Drive. The Guilford County Sheriff's Office said Bradley Martin shot his brother Tony Martin, 44. 

The sheriff's office said Tony Martin was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition. 

Deputies said this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Bradley Martin's next court appearance is set for August 28. If convicted, he could face 19 years in prison.
