WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Juan Noyola-Alonzo pled guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter in a shooting in August of 2020, the Forsyth County District Attorney's Office reports.
While Noyola-Alonzo was 17 when he committed these crimes and was initially charged as a juvenile, his case was later transferred to adult court.
The victims, Dylan Samuel Lopez and Jesus Antonio Candela-Abonza were killed on Utah Drive in Winston-Salem.
When arriving at the scene, police found both victims with gunshot wounds. According to the police, more than 200 people were outside when the shots were fired.
Out of the 200 people, only one person came forward to help with the investigation.
The witness described a red Nissan Cube to the police. The car was said to have driven up and down the road with the headlights off. After the shootings, the car sped away.
According to the police, investigators were unable to find the murder weapon or develop any further evidence. The District Attorney said the lack of witnesses willing to come forward limited the State's ability to bring on a more serious charge.
Noyola-Alonzo was sentenced to a total of 102 to 148 months in prison.
