Man arrested in Phoenix after a deadly shooting on N. Greene St. in Greensboro, police say

Greensboro police said Michal Michael Tyrone Styles was arrested in Phoenix in connection to a deadly shooting on North Greene Street.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man was arrested in Arizona in connection to a deadly shooting at a Greensboro nightclub, according to Greensboro police. 

Police said on Friday, May 31, 2024, Michal Michael Tyrone Styles, 27, was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona, on a warrant for first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. 

GPD said Styles is being held in Phoenix and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

On Feb. 25, around 2:07 a.m., Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of North Greene Street. Two gunshot victims were found and taken to a local hospital.

Devonte Jamaal Stephenson, 24, died at the hospital. A second gunshot victim was in critical condition, according to police.

Investigators determined that a fight outside of Club One17 led to the shooting.

Since the shooting at One17 Sofabar, Greensboro Fire found several fire and life safety violations. Officials said that based on these violations, the business was ordered to shut down temporarily.
