Cold Case Cracked: Man arrested in Las Vegas for North Carolina murder, police say

Fourteen years later, after years of investigating a body found in a home, warrants for arrest were obtained for Christopher Allen Wilson.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man has been arrested in Las Vegas in connection to a 2010 murder, according to Winston-Salem police.

On Jan. 11, 2010, at 12:09 p.m., officers responded to North Jackson Avenue to assist Forsyth County Emergency Services on a body found.

Upon arrival, officers found Dwight Smith dead inside the home. Smith was found to have lacerations on his body. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to assume the investigation.

Fourteen years later, after years of investigating, warrants for arrest were obtained on May 30 for Christopher Allen Wilson. 

Police said Wilson remains in custody in Las Vegas, Nevada, on unrelated charges and is awaiting extradition.
