ASHEBORO, N.C. — A couple in Asheboro is speaking out after a drunk driver plowed into their home just before midnight Tuesday.
Kim and Keith Archer woke up to the alarming sound of a car crashing into their bedroom.
"By the time he passed me, he was about a couple inches away from my feet and he had moved the mattress. So, that's how close I was," recalled Keith Archer.
According to the police report, Manolo Paz was driving down Roseboro Drive in Asheboro when he ran off the road and into the Archer's home.
"Six inches different and this wouldn't be drunk driving, this would be homicide," exclaimed Keith Archer.
The police report also revealed Paz was arrested and charged with DWI, open container and more charges.
Thankfully, the Archers walked away with only minor injuries.
"Maybe a twisted ankle or two. I don't know if I did that getting out of bed or if he actually hit it. I was laying on my side facing where he came in," recalled Keith Archer.
The Archers are currently renting their home. They are waiting on their landlord to finishing patching up their bedroom and for the power to be turned back on.
They are staying in a hotel until the repairs are complete.
