Dinner club operator will replace 'Street Food' in Triad location

'Machete' is expected to open next to Preyer Brewing Co. around March.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Triad foodies will no longer have to worry about finding a place for Machete to enjoy their favorite multiple course dining experience.

Tal Blevins, a self-described "Southern dandy" who has operated "Machete," a band of traveling supper clubs in the Triad, will open Machete in the restaurant now occupied by Crafted: the Art of Street Food at 600 Battleground Ave., on the edge of downtown Greensboro.

Andy Zimmerman owns the property, which is next to Preyer Brewing Co. He expects Machete to open around March.

"I think Greensboro will be very excited to see what he has in store for his new restaurant here," Zimmerman told Triad Business Journal. "I know as a foodie, I am more than excited to have Tal here."

TBJ was unable to reach Blevins for comment about the new restaurant.

Kristina Fuller, who owns and operates Street Food with her mother, Rhonda, told the Greensboro News and Record newspaper that the lease on the restaurant was ending and they were taking a break to care for an ailing family member.

Fuller told the newspaper that their two Crafted: The Art of the Taco restaurants -- in Greensboro and Winston-Salem -- would remain open, and Street Food employees would have the option to work at those locations.
