Vault Visit: Candidates campaign across NC in 2016

On March 8, 2016, President Bill Clinton visited Elon Law School in Greensboro to campaign for his wife, Hillary, while former President Trump campaigned in Concord.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75! So, to celebrate our diamond year, we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

March 8, 2016, was more evidence of North Carolina's battleground role in election years. 

President Bill Clinton visited Elon Law School in Greensboro to campaign for his wife Hillary Clinton. 

The same day, then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump visited Concord, where he focused on jobs.

The next day, Senator Ted Cruz spoke in Raleigh. Two months later, he dropped out of the race.

Trump campaigned in Fayetteville that Wednesday, and Hillary Clinton spoke in Durham later that week.
