Vault Visit: UNC-Chapel Hill student body president kidnapped, murdered

Police found two men who were sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of killing Eve Carson back in March 2008.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — WFMY News 2 turns 75 this year and to celebrate, we are opening the WFMY News 2 Vault. 

On this day in 2008, a kidnapping and murder took place that would rock the Carolina campus and beyond. 

It was the night of March 4 — UNC Chapel-Hill student body president Eve Carson was kidnapped as she walked to her car. 

Two suspects took her to various ATMs to withdraw money and later shot and killed her. 

The news made headlines throughout the state and country as police searched for the suspects. 

Police arrested them days after surveillance cameras caught them using Carson's cards. Both men were tried, found guilty, and sentenced to life in prison.
