Vault Visit: Gus the Bus visits students across North Carolina

WFMY News 2 remembers when students learned about school bus safety from Gus the Bus.

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — WFMY News 2 is celebrating its 75 birthday. So, we're opening the WFMY News 2 Vault.

On May 30, We're seeing how students learned about school bus safety in 1979.

They had a visit from Gus the bus!

Gus was a talking school bus that told students about the importance of safety around streets and buses.

WFMY News 2 Reporter: "Gus, I've never interviewed a bus before... but what's the last thing you tell the kids when you have one of these discussions with them about bus safety? 

Gus: "The last thing I tell them before we let them go back to class, of course, I remind them of the safety rules."

Various versions of 'Gus the Bus' visited students all over the state for decades.
