NC Department of Transportation tracks roadways ahead of severe weather threat

The Triad Regional Transportation Management Center is tracking roadways and drivers on the roads ahead of the severe weather threat.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — When there is severe weather, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to keep everything operational. 

The WFMY News 2 Weather Team is tracking some rain, gusty winds, and a threat of a few severe thunderstorms.

WFMY News 2 spoke to crews at The Triad Regional Transportation Management Center as they prepare for the inclement weather in our area.

Their teams told us their I-Map crews look at over a thousand camera across the Triad and the state searching for problem areas on the roads.

They also told us their main job is to get accidents off the roadways and they also look for distress drivers who may be stranded due to debris or car issues.
