Debby live updates: Flooding, outages, and road conditions across the Triad

Duke Energy is reporting several thousand power outages across the Piedmont Triad.

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — We're tracking Tropical Storm Debby conditions across the Greensboro area as well as North Carolina. Here's the latest. 

NEED TO KNOW: 

THURSDAY UPDATES:

8 p.m. -- Our latest forecast said we might be able to look forward to sunny skies on Friday following Debby.

7 p.m. -- New forecast for Tropical Depression Debby detailing where the storm is headed.

6:43 p.m. -- Rockingham County's tornado warning is extended to 7 p.m.

6:07 p.m. -- A tornado warning is issued for Rockingham and Caswell Counties. 

5 p.m. -- WFMY News 2's Tim Buckley announces Tropical Storm Debby has officially been downgraded to a tropical depression.

4 p.m. -- More Debby coverage, flash flood warning is still in affect for residents.

3:30 p.m. -- Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA) announces the Hopper Trolley would end its services for the rest of the day during Debby.

3 p.m. -- Our latest Debby forecast.

2:15 p.m. -- Watch as Debby winds bring down this tree in Tobaccoville. 

1:40 p.m. -- There are more than 133,000 Duke Energy power outages across North Carolina. Here's the current outage count in the Triad: 

  • Guilford: 12,400
  • Forsyth: 7,000
  • Rockingham: 2,800
  • Randolph: 1,200

1:30 p.m. -- A massive tree came down and is blocking one side of Wendover Avenue in Greensboro near Spring Garden and Holden. 

1 p.m. -- Watch our latest Debby forecast here.

12 p.m. -- According to Duke Energy more than 11,000 outages have been reported in Forsyth County. Guilford County's outage number has risen to 7,000.

Alamance County's outages have risen to 2,000.

11:30 a.m. -- The first round of the Wyndham Championship has been postponed to Friday, August 9. 

11 a.m. -- Debby causing dangerous road conditions in Forsyth County. 

All southbound lanes of Highway 52 closed at Akron Drive due to a crash. Be safe on these wet roads.

10 a.m. -- Officials confirmed one person died after a tornado ripped through their home in Wilson County, east of the Raleigh area early Thursday morning. 

9:50 a.m. -- Duke Energy representative Jeff Brooks says at this time, Duke Energy is not deploying more crews to the Triad. He says Duke Energy is relying on its several hundred line and tree workers in the area. Outages are still evolving and that could change. 

8:30 a.m. -- Wheeler Bridge Road in Whitsett is closed due to a downed tree, and the tree is in the power lines, according to an NCDOT update. 

8:30 a.m. -- Power outages are going up across the Piedmont Triad. Here are the current outages by county: 

  • FORSYTH - 9,604
  • GUILFORD - 3,678
  • RANDOLPH - 1,920 + 4,800 (RANDOLPH ELECTRIC)
  • ROCKINGHAM - 2,560
  • ALAMANCE - 1,601
  • MONTGOMERY - 1,181

7:45 a.m. -- Duke Energy is reporting several thousand power outages this morning across the Piedmont Triad. Currently: 

  • 5,000 outages in Winston-Salem
  • 3,000 outages in Greensboro
  • 1,000 outages in Alamance County
  • 1,000 outages in Randolph County

5:30 a.m. -- Debby has delayed the start of a professional golf tournament in Greensboro. Wyndham Championship officials announced that first-round tee times would not be before 3 p.m. today.
