ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Tropical Storm Helene is pounding the Carolinas with heavy rain and strong winds Friday morning. Unbelievable video from our WFMY News 2 crew in Asheville, NC shows floodwaters sweeping a car away. 

The Duke Energy outage map shows more than half-a-million customers without power in our state Friday morning. The majority of them in the mountains and the Charlotte area. 

The storm has already claimed the lives of two people in North Carolina - a 4-year-old in Catawba County and another person in Charlotte.
