Guilford County Sheriff's Office accepting donations for Helene victims in western NC

Donations are being accepted until Thursday at 5 p.m.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Joining in on the local outpouring of support for western North Carolina in the wake of Helene, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that it is starting a "Together for Western NC" campaign.

The Sheriff's Office said it is collecting essential supplies for those affected by the storm. A trailer has been parked outside of the Sheriff's Office, and they are asking the community to help them fill it up with donations before it ships out to affected areas Friday morning.

The Sheriff's Office is accepting the following items. It WILL NOT accept cash or used items.

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Bottled water
  • Water containers
  • Can openers
  • Personal and feminine hygiene products
  • New and packaged clothing
  • Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates/cups, paper utensils
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Baby formula, diapers and wipes
  • Pet food and supplies
  • First aid kits
  • Flashlights and batteries.

Donations can be dropped off at the Sheriff's Office parking lot located at 400 W Washington Street in Greensboro. They ask that donations be made by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.
