Mornings in the 50s; A tease to Fall in NC

Cooler, low humidity weather is here through the weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Can you feel the difference?

What a change that happened overnight! Behind our cold front that brought storms Monday evening, a taste of Fall-like air has arrived in the Piedmont, and it's set to hang around for several days this time. It's not only the cooler air, but really the lack of humidity that is making all the difference. Dew points had dropped into the low 60s early Tuesday morning and will keep falling throughout the day.

That drier air makes it feel more refreshing to you when you walk outside, and also helps our air to cool down even more. It's a win-win for folks sick and tired of the hot and humid weather, looking for just a hint of Fall weather.

How Cool Will it Get?

The last time we dipped into the 50s in Greensboro was back on July 2nd, when we dipped down to 59°. There's a chance we could get cooler than that over the next few mornings. Most of us will dip into the upper 50s Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Thursday will likely be our coolest morning this week, and several folks could dip into the mid 50s.

How Long Will it Last?

During the summer, every now and then we get a little one day break in the humidity which is nice, but this time around, it's going to last all the way through the end of the week and into the weekend before humidity and heat crank back up.

Dew points will be in the 50s through the end of the work week, likely working back into the 60s and getting a bit more sticky by Sunday and into next week. But, it's here to enjoy for a little while this time.

When Does Fall Start?

While this break in the heat and humidity may be lasting for a few days, just remember...it's still summer! This isn't permanent just yet, but toward the end of August we usually start to get a little more of a taste of Fall like this from time to time.

Temps gradually getting cooler now

Fall officially starts on Sunday, September 22nd with the Fall Equinox, but our temps are already starting to get cooler...gradually. As you know, Mother Nature doesn't always play by the rules, but this is a good guide to a gradual cool down over the next couple months.
