DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A woman is mourning the loss of her fiance after he died in a head-on crash in Davidson County on Monday.
Courtney Wilmoth said she was set to marry Joshua Ford this year. Together, they had two sons, and Ford also had a daughter.
"He was a great man. He was very dedicated to his family, and coming home at night, and just being with us. We would all pile into the bed, and watch movies or just whatever we could do, and he was a hard worker," Wilmoth said.
Troopers said Ford, 32, and one other person died in the crash on Highway 109. They said 74-year-old Cynthia Muscato tried to pass a tractor-trailer and crashed head-on with Ford in the opposite lane.
They both died on the scene.
Wilmoth said she's had an outpouring of support since the crash.
"I have a really good support system, honestly, and I didn’t know that I was gonna have that. I thought I would be facing all of this alone with two little boys and everything - it’s just been a relief to have it," she said.
Another Triad family is also mourning their loved one. According to Pugh Funeral Home, Muscato loved her family, especially her great-grandchildren. Her obituary said Muscato enjoyed senior bingo, traveling, and going on cruises. She was married to Robert Muscato Jr. for 35 years.
