I-85 south in Randolph County reopens after fiery crash overnight

The Guil-Rand Fire Department said multiple vehicles, including a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — UPDATE: The highway has now reopened, according to an NCDOT alert. 

PREVIOUS: Emergency crews are at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on I-85 south at mile marker 111 in Randolph County. 

The accident happened late last night, according to an NCDOT alert, and is expected to clear by 7 a.m. Thursday. 

Guil-Rand Fire Department reported Chemel Jate Martin, 38, of Plymouth N.C., was traveling south in a tractor-trailer and crashed into two Archdale Police Department vehicles.  Martin then collided two N.C. Department of Transportation vehicles, officials said.  Four of the five vehicles caught fire after impact, officials said.

Martin, the passenger in Martin's vehicle and one of the Transportation workers sustained minor injuries.

A foam tanker was called to the scene to put out the fire. 

Right now, there's no word on injuries or what caused the crash.
