Reidsville basketball star tears down rim during dunk

The Reidsville Rams boys' basketball team moves to 21-0 after Tuesday's game ended early due to this furious slam from sophomore Kendre Harrison.

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — The Reidsville Boys basketball team has dominated their opponents all year long. Currently with a record of 21-0, the Rams are looking to make their second consecutive 2A State Title appearance in basketball, after falling short to Farmville Central last year inside the Dean Dome.

Entering this season, Coach Jason Ross and the boys had one thing on their minds. They want redemption.

Tuesday night, in game number 21 on the season, the Rams were up big against their in-county rivals from Morehead when the unbelievable happened.

The Rams were out on a fast break, when Point Guard Dionte Neal, dished the ball to the 6'7" Kendre Harrison. Harrison rose with two hands and dunked the ball, ripping the rim off the backboard in the process.

"When I went up to dunk it, I thought it was just going to be a regular dunk. You know, hang on the rim and swing a little bit. But when I dunked it, I was like yoooo, this thing just came off", Harrison said.

Harrison hit the ground as glass showered down to the floor. The gym erupted as fans ran on the floor and the players began to celebrate. Harrison is currently the #22 ranked player in the class of 2026, according to ESPN in basketball, and is also the #1 ranked tight end for his class as well.

"I went downstairs right after the game, my phone was blowing up... The video was posted on Slam, SportsCenter, everywhere. I've gained like 1,300 followers. It's crazy", Harrison said.

The game was called, and Reidsville picked up the 63-43 win, as their journey to redemption is more than halfway complete.

"My first reaction was wow, but then I quickly was thinking ahead to the future. Will be able to host playoff games here in the future?" Reidsville boy's head basketball coach, Jason Ross began to wonder.

"I was super excited for Kendre, and I was super excited about the way his teammates responded. They were all so excited for him, cheering, clapping, jumping on him. That's good to see, that's great team chemistry and I couldn't be more happy about that", Ross went on to say.

Harrison (and 9 out of his 11 teammates) look to do something that many in the state of North Carolina have ever done, and that's winning a football state title and basketball championship in the same year.
