NORTH CAROLINA, USA — CNN dropped a report on Thursday that claimed North Carolina Republican candidate for governor Mark Robinson referred to himself as a "black NAZI" and made dozens of sexual and racist comments on a pornography forum.
Moments before the story went live, Mark Robinson posted a video to X expressing his commitment to stay in the race.
Republican lawmakers have been slow to comment on Thursday's events.
Here's a list of statements. Be sure to check back as lawmakers continue to respond.
Ted Budd, Republican U.S. Senator for North Carolina
"The comments reported in the article are disgusting. Mark Robinson says they are not from him. He needs to prove that to the voters."
Dale Folwell, Republican North Carolina State Treasurer, former NC governor candidate
"The Republican party that I have joined nearly 50 years ago as a party that's based on, conservatism, which means to save common sense, humanity, humility and ethics and this reporting that's going on today shows that he has none of those things. [...] Mark Robinson has never represented uh what I think the Republican Party stands for."
"It was a tough day, but we must stay focused on the races we can win. We have to make sure President Trump wins NC and support the outstanding GOP candidates running for key NCGA and judicial races. If Harris takes NC, she takes the White House. We can’t let that happen. #ncpol"
