Longtime Guilford County lawmaker resigns

State House Representative John Faircloth will resign his seat effective September 6 at 5 p.m.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A longtime Guilford County lawmaker will soon step away.

State House Representative John Faircloth will resign his seat effective September 6 at 5 p.m.
               

Faircloth was born and raised in Greensboro and spent time working for the police department.

He later served as High Point's chief of police, before getting elected to High Point City Council.

Faircloth has represented Guilford County in Raleigh since 2011.

He said in his resignation letter in part--whether it be during my time in law enforcement, High Point City Council or my current post as state representative, I have always strived to make a positive impact on our community.
