New entertainment hub coming to High Point

The site will sit across the street from Truist Point Stadium. As the ballpark grew, so did the rest of downtown High Point.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Downtown High Point's overhaul is adding a new chapter soon. The city is getting ready to start working on a giant, new facility.

It'll have restaurants, entertainment, and even a rooftop bar, right across from the Rockers Stadium.

The idea is to keep fueling the growth taking place here in downtown High Point. Growth that seems to have started with the stadium being built back in 2019.

One thing for certain about the city of High Point, it's constantly changing.

"I mean, we've been here 15 years and it has changed so much," High Point local, Leslie Williams said.

"It's grown a whole lot, it's grown a whole lot," fellow High Point local, AJ Banks Jr. said.

Business High Point and the Chamber of Commerce want to keep the momentum going by building a multi-use facility off Lindsay Street, right across the road from Truist Point Stadium.

Its said a private developer will be funding the project. It's an addition to the city that the President of High Point Rockers baseball, Peter Fisch, believes in.

"It's just amazing to see how the development of a ballpark can lead to being a catalyst for so much great, mixed-use development around it," said Fisch.

Others, like Banks Jr. said the new development will create competition for surrounding businesses like it, businesses that also offer food, entertainment and more.

"You know, that's just the economical way, that's just the economical way," Banks Jr. said.

But both he and Williams don't necessarily think that competition would be a bad thing, they actually think the opposite. That it could be a good thing for an existing food hall nearby.

"I think they're going to compete with Stock and Grain, and their food hall, and what they have going on. Which is good competition, it will keep things reasonably priced hopefully," Williams said.

It's something Fisch echoed, saying that if his stadium can be multi-use, the city can stand to have more multi-use buildings in the area.

"If soccer and baseball coexist [at Truist Point Stadium] everything can as well. It's just more the merrier, it all brings people to downtown High Point," Fisch said.

The multi-use development is set to open in 2026 off Lindsay Street in High Point.
