WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Kamala Harris' running-mate Tim Walz will be in the Tar Heel State on the first day of early voting, Thursday.
The Harris-Walz campaign said Walz will make stops in Durham and Winston-Salem. While in Durham, he'll be joined by former president Bill Clinton for a campaign event.
After Walz leaves the Triangle, he'll head to Winston-Salem that evening, where he will deliver remarks to a crowd.
He will be joined by Grammy, Golden-Globe, Emmy, and Academy Award-winning artist and activist, Common who has endorsed the Harris-Walz ticket and been an outspoken advocate for the importance of voting.
This will be Walz's first trip back to North Carolina since Helene. Two weeks before the storm, he campaigned in Asheville.
Harris rallied in Greenville, NC on Sunday. Meanwhile, on the Republican side, JD Vance is set to a rally in Wilmington on Wednesday, and former President Donald Trump will have a meeting with faith leaders in Concord, NC on Monday.
North Carolinians can expect more visits from the candidates in the weeks and days leading up to Election Day - November 5. Polls show a tight race in the battleground state between Harris and Trump. The latest poll released by Emerson College shows Trump with a one-point lead over Harris in our state.
Democrats hope to flip North Carolina come Election Day. In the previous two presidential elections, North Carolinians elected Trump for president, but Democrat Roy Cooper for governor.
