RALEIGH, N.C. — The latest political event in the leadup to the November general election sees Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance coming to Raleigh on Wednesday to deliver remarks on the economy.
The senator from Ohio is expected to take the stage and begin speaking at 3 p.m. We will stream Vance's remarks, and you can watch it here.
Vance will speak at Union Hall on West Martin Street in downtown Raleigh in front of a crowd of fervent supporters. Doors opened for the event at noon, but there were already people lining up to get in the venue well before that.
Vance's fellow Vice Presidential nominee, Tim Walz, spoke in Asheville on Tuesday. Kamala Harris spoke in both Charlotte and Greensboro on Sept. 12.
Donald Trump is also planning a trip to the Tar Heel state, as he has a rally scheduled for Saturday in Wilmington.
Vance last spoke in North Carolina on Aug. 21, when he and Trump made a stop in Asheboro.
These events are the continuation of an aggressive campaign strategy for both the Trump-Vance and Harris-Walz campaigns.
An August poll by High Point University showed that Harris had a one point lead over Trump (46%-45%). The presidential race is shaping up to be wildly competitive, especially compared to the N.C. governor race between Josh Stein and Mark Robinson.
In that same HPU poll, Stein held a 14-point lead over his opponent.
