HPU poll shows latest standings in the NC Governor's race

Mark Robinson commented on the poll results.

ASHEBORO, N.C. — A new poll conducted by High Point University illuminates North Carolina's gubernatorial choice at this point in the race.

Democrat Josh Stein takes an astonishing lead with 48% of the vote from North Carolina registered voters while Republican Mark Robinson is staggering behind with 34%.

However, 18% of voters are saying they are undecided.

This margin is significantly wider than the national poll which places Kamala Harris one point above Donald Trump, with 8% of voters being undecided.

Harris received 46% of the vote while Trump received 45%.

Robinson was in Asheboro on Monday while on the campaign trail. He had this to say about the poll results:

"We have supreme confidence that we have enough, more than enough support in this state to continue to win. Certainly, when you look at a poll, you may get this made by some numbers, but we're not looking at numbers, we're looking at people and we're going after votes and we know we can still win this race and we know we still are going to win this race," said Robinson.

Stein was in Alamance County earlier in August on the campaign trail. He recently announced a plan to reduce costs for parents and teachers.
