Two North Carolina polling places will stay open 30 minutes longer: Board of Elections

The counting of votes in these two counties will be delayed.

WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — Two polling places in North Carolina will close at 8 p.m. — 30 minutes later than most polls will close — due to unseen delays, according to the State Board of Elections.

According to the Board of Elections, one precinct in Wilson County opened on time, but a delay was caused after poll workers were unable to print some forms required to vote. People were not able to cast their ballot until 8:07 a.m.

Another polling place in Burke County also opened on time, but the voting process didn't start until around 7 a.m. because there was an issue with an election worker's laptop.

The Board of Elections said no votes in Burke or Wilson counties will be counted until these last precincts close. No other counties are affected.
