NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Due to flooding across the state, multiple school districts are opting to run on a 2-hour delay out of an abundance of caution on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Due to the current power outages, road closures, and debris around the Triad, school leaders are opening schools a little later to give crews more time to clear the roadways.
The following schools are running on a delay. We will update you as we learn more.
Alamance-Burlington School System
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Due to downed trees and water intrusion inside some buildings from roof leaks that occurred during the storm, we will operate on a 2-hour delay for students on Wednesday, Jan 10 to allow our team time to fully assess campuses before students arrive. Safety is our top priority as we work to address storm impacts. Staff should use caution if coming in before the delay and communicate with their principal or supervisors if delayed.
Alleghany County Schools
Closed — Wednesday, Jan. 10
Due to frigid temperatures, standing water, and the possibility of snow showers and black ice tonight, Alleghany County Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th. It will be an optional teacher workday with a report time of no earlier than 10:00 am. Teachers, if you report in, please drive safely.
Davie County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Davidson County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Elkin City Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Guilford County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Lexington City Schools
On Wednesday, January 10, Lexington City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students. Staff will be on a 1-hour delay. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. On Wednesday, January 10, Lexington City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students. LCS staff should report to their building on a 1-hour delay.
Mount Airy City Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Due to flooding in the area, schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow Wednesday, Jan. 10. The delay will provide bus drivers more daylight to navigate potential debris on roads. Tharrington will begin at 9:50 a.m., Jones at 10 a.m., and middle and high school will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Randolph County Schools
Opening 3 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Rockingham County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Stokes County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10
Surry County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Wilkes County Schools
Opening 2 hours late — Wednesday, Jan. 10
As a reminder, buses do not leave schools before 7:45 a.m. when we are on a 2-hour delay. We have also taken steps to allow students at Mount Pleasant Elementary to return on a 2-hour delay tomorrow as well. Should these plans change, you will be contacted
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
There is no word on a delay or closure with the school district. We will update you when we learn more.
Yadkin County Schools
