Greensboro restaurant reopening after noise, gunshots, traffic complaints shut it down

The business was approved to reopen but only as a restaurant.
The City of Greensboro shut down Lost Diamond after leaders said it was illegally operating as a nightclub.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Lost Diamond has reopened after city leaders said it was illegally operating as a nightclub.

An official with the City of Greensboro said the business was approved to reopen but only as a restaurant.

"In order to address issues previously identified, the business submitted plans from their architect. The plans were reviewed by the appropriate City departments and approved," said a city official.

The owner has reportedly removed the DJ booth from the plan and provided a seating arrangement that limits his concentrated use.

In June, The City of Greensboro said it was getting complaints about The Lost Diamond, a newly-permitted restaurant on Walker Avenue, for noise, sounds of gunshots, disturbances, and heavy traffic.

The city said the applicant was approved as a 'restaurant' with 'no hookah.' However, the Greensboro Fire Department inspected the business on June 4 and determined it didn't comply with its permit.

The fire department and the City's zoning enforcement team shut down the business as a result.

The business faced violations for illegal use (proximity to residential) and new use without proper permitting.
