WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — You have the chance to get a free steering wheel lock.
The Winston-Salem Police Department is giving the locks to Hyundai and Kia owners for free!
These cars are often easy for thieves to steal.
Winston-Salem police said 38 Hyundais and 47 Kias were reported stolen so far this year.
The giveaway starts at 7 a.m. on Thursday at the Winston Mutual Building at 1225 East 5th Street. The event will last until 9 a.m. or until they run out of steering wheel locks. All Kia and Hyundai owners will need to bring their registration as well.
Arriving early is encouraged. The last time the police department gave these steering wheel locks last year, the supply ran out in minutes.
Steering wheel locks are an effective way to prevent vehicle theft, particularly for Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
