Coworkers remember Greensboro woman killed in hit-and-run

Priscilla Keene worked at World of Beer. She was a wife and mother of three. Her life will be celebrated this weekend.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Hard working and loved deeply by many, that's how World of Beer's General Manager Riki Dublin describes Priscilla Keene.

Keene was a wife and mother of three. She lost her life in a hit-and-run towards the end of October. This Saturday is her celebration of life.

On October 26th, 30-year-old Priscilla Keene clocked into her shift at World of Beer in Greensboro but she never made it home.

"She was leaving here, just going home when it occurred and phones just started ringing," Dublin said.

Greensboro Police said Keene lost her life in a hit-and-run that took place on I-40 just past midnight that night.

Another car hit the back of the car she was riding in, causing it to travel off the highway and strike a guardrail. Keene was ejected from the car.

Police said her husband and one of their three children were also in the car at the time of the crash. They both walked away with non life threatening injuries.

Alongside Keene's family, this loss has been extremely hard for her work family at World of Beer.

"It was hard those first couple of days after it happened. There was a lot of emotion… a lot of shock… because it was so sudden," Dublin said.

Dublin said World of Beer was like Keene's home away from home. She said Keene was one of the hardest working employees they had.

"Always hustling, never stayed still. Just always had to be moving, always had to be working. She would work during the day with her husband sometimes and then come in here and then come in here and close at night so she was amazing," Dublin said.

Keene enjoyed working at world of beer so much, that her family decided to hold her celebration of life there.

"Her mother-in-law always spoke about how she came home so excited every night after we would have a band or you know, have a comedy show or whatever and just how much fun she had and so they decided to do it here," Dublin said.

World of Beer will be closed Saturday, November 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m to host the event in honor of Keene.

From 2 p.m. and 12 a.m. World of Beer will host a fundraiser that will benefit Keene's family. A portion of their earnings from that day will be donated to her family.

World of Beer is asking folks who plan to attend, to wear Keene's favorite color, hot pink.
