Original Story:
A High Point mother is mourning the loss of her son after he was shot and killed in downtown Greensboro.
Greensboro police said the shooting happened Sunday, Sept 1 at the parking deck of N. Greene St. Officers responded to a gunshot wound call at the ground floor.
Police found Joseph Minor, 20, who was taken to the hospital and later died. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
His mother, Tiffiney Peele, spoke with WFMY News 2 about her son. She told us the incident was caught on camera. She says her son and another person appeared to be arguing before the shooting.
"They looked like they knew each other. They walk up, spoke, obviously guy said something rude to Jojo. There was my son, Joey, threw his hands up and the guy tapped his waist, showed he had a gun," Peele said.
She goes on to say the two started fighting. She said the video shows the shooter run behind a corner, out of the camera's view. She said all you can see is their gun lighting up.
Peele prays her family gets justice. She said her son wore his heart on his sleeve and would take the shirt off his back to help others.
"He was my rock. He was the one who keeps everyone together. I just don't know what to think without him. He was the man, the man in my family since my husband is gone," Peele said.
He would have been 21-years-old November 24.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at (336) 373-1000.
