RANDLEMAN, N.C. — Red Zone Sports Bar and Grill in Randleman has been standing strong for over 11 years but earlier this week, it took a pretty big hit.
"It sounded like an explosion", the Bar Manager of Red Zone, Laurra Simpson said.
Red Zone surveillance footage from Monday shows exactly what took place, a car driving into the establishment.
Randlemen police say 27-year-old Peyton Clark got in her car after spending time at Red Zone. They said she quickly hit the gas as she was leaving, lost control and hit the building. Clark was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Tiffany Martin is a bartender at Red Zone. She was working the night it all happened, "I could have died. My two people at the end of the bar could have died. It was bad," Martin said.
In the video, you can see Martin getting hit with debris as soon as the car drove into the building. She says the impact from Clark's car left her covered in liquor and glass, she says she's still dealing with what took place.
"My body has been so sore. I got so many bruises. I got small cuts everywhere. I got glass that I'm still picking out of my hands," Martin said.
Manager of the bar and grill, Laurra Simpson says she's aware the building itself is in shambles but recognizes the financial impact this will have on her and other Red Zone employees.
"Financially, it's a disaster… because this is our busiest time of the year," Simpson said.
Martin is feeling those same financial pressures.
"I have no idea right now. I have been so stressed out about that like I have two girls. What am I gonna do for Christmas?" Martin said.
Even through all the stress this has caused, the Red Zone family hasn't lost sight of just how lucky they truly are, "everybody was blessed just to walk out alive, even Peyton, I mean, she's lucky, she's lucky that she was able to walk out of her vehicle," Simpson said.
