Weather Whiplash: Temps drop around 20 degrees Sunday

Highs will drop from near 80 to the upper 50s

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Highs across the Triad have rebounded and stuck the last several days back into the seasonably warm mid-to-upper 70s. This is due to high pressure along with an upper-level ridge setting up across the southeastern U.S. allowing for temperatures to grow and warm winds to come out of the south. For reference, average highs for this time of year are in the upper 60s.

Weather Whiplash

A pretty strong cold front will start to bring changes Saturday evening into Sunday as it sweeps through the Carolinas. More cloud coverage and even scattered showers will be possible through Sunday afternoon. We'll take it, given we haven't even received a quarter inch the entire month of October!

While we could get a few scattered showers for the first time in a while, the biggest difference you'll notice will be in regards to temperature. Saturday across the Triad, highs sat in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees! Sunday afternoon, highs will struggle to make it deep into the 50s to near 60 at best.

Make sure you dress accordingly! Fall weather is returning in full swing on Sunday. You'll be glad you wore the coat and kept the umbrella handy!

We'll stay in the 60s for highs to start the new work week as high pressure takes back over with sunshine returning. Our mornings will be chilly with temps in the 40s. By Halloween we'll warm back up to the mid to upper 70s! For now, make sure you layer up and keep eyes on the radar!
