GREENSBORO, N.C. — Duke fans spending time at House Divided in Greensboro were cool, calm and collected as they waited patiently for a win they said they knew would come.
"I love when Duke wins, cause it's like 'oh what were you saying… oh! I thought you were saying they were gonna loose,'" Taylor Goodwyn said.
Before sharing her excitement, Goodwyn told WFMY News 2's Nixon Norman she was born into a Duke family.
"[Growing up] My grandma, my uncle and my mom were always like "go Duke, go Duke, go Duke" so I was like, "go Duke, go Duke, go Duke" as soon as I got older, I started watching them play myself, and I could see why my family was #TeamDuke. Literally my dad, my sisters, everyone is #TeamDuke," Goodwyn.
Nina Smith has a similar story, she's been a Duke fan for over twenty years.
"I definitely became a Duke fan because of my mother. She was a Duke fan as well and we used to go to the games back when Shane Battier used to play, so that's really how I kind of had a love for Duke and it's kind of continued on," Smith said.
Both women work at House Divided, a place where half the staff are loyal UNC fans and the other half are Duke fans.
Smith also had extreme confidence in her team, saying their track record is the reason why, all she asks, is that Duke keeps up the good work.
Keep being great, keep being great, you know? Keep striving for excellence and don't disappoint.
Both women said they're excited to see what's in store for Duke.
