HIGH POINT, N.C. — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died after he crashed into a truck at a High Point intersection overnight.
The High Point Police Department said it happened early Sunday morning.
Officers said they responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection of Westchester Drive and North Main Street around 12:24 a.m.
When first responders arrived, they found the motorcycle ran into a pickup truck at the intersection.
Police said the driver, David Scott Hill Jr., was taken to the hospital where he died.
The driver of the truck was not injured, police say.
Police said while the investigation is ongoing, they have determined the motorcycle was speeding and ran the red light at the intersection.
This is the 13th traffic fatality for the City of High Point in 2023, according to police.
