Davidson County winery closes its doors after deadly standoff

The Grape Escape Vineyard announced they would be closing in a social media post.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County vineyard is closing its doors after a deadly standoff.

The Grape Escape Vineyard announced they would be closing in a social media post.

The business said in the post:

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the permanent closure of The Grape Escape...I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to each and every on of our loyal customers who have become family over the years.

This comes after a standoff at the business on Monday.

Davidson County deputies said they responded to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife who owned the vineyard.

Deputies said the husband, Neil Thomas, fired shots at them and they fired back, hitting him in the hand.

Deputies tried getting him to come out.

The sheriff's office said deputies saw Thomas shoot himself as well as kill four dogs.

The standoff lasted for two hours.
