WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A body was found Thursday afternoon as work crews were demolishing vacant apartments in Winston-Salem.

The body was discovered around 4:07 p.m. at the apartments on E. Third Street. Winston-Salem police said the apartment building has been vacant for a substantial time period and is a known location where homeless people stay in need of shelter.

Police have not identified the person at this time. They said it’s too early to tell if foul play was involved.
