ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) discussed major budget challenges Tuesday night.
The district also gave an update on the superintendent search.
Let's start with the money troubles:
ABSS said it needs to cut 3.5 million dollars worth of spending.
Earlier this school year when the district revealed it had a budget emergency. The district floated ideas like layoffs and closing the virtual school. It eventually found the money to make sure neither happened.
The district has been working with the state and county to get its budget under control.
As for the superintendent search, the district wants to bring a search firm to find them.
The district lost its superintendent last month after Dr. Dain Butler resigned. This came as the district tried to navigate all of its money challenges. The district expects to give an update later this month.
