ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Alamance-Burlington Schools System has named an interim superintendent.
Dr. Bill Harrison will serve as top educator for the district. The ABSS Board of Education appointed Dr. Harrison to the role on Monday.
It comes after former Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler resigned earlier this month.
Dr. Harrison served as interim superintendent and superintendent for ABSS from 2014 to 2018. Before that, he was chairman of the NC State Board of Education from 2009 to 2013.
"We're excited to welcome Dr. Harrison back to ABSS. As someone who has worked here before, he already knows and understands our staff, students, and community very well. His prior experience and familiarity with both the strengths of our schools and the challenges we face will be very beneficial as we work to move forward,” said Sandy-Ellington-Graves, Board Chair.
Dr. Harrison has more than four decades of experience in education leadership roles.
