HIGH POINT, N.C. — A woman who was shot in the head on Saturday, May 18, has died, according to the High Point Police Department.

Lakeshia M. Foster, 27, was shot in the head around 5:45 p.m. on Everett Lane.

Police said they initially received a call about a suicide. When they arrived, they found Foster with a gunshot wound to her head.

After an investigation and evidence on the scene, police said they arrested 44-year-old Trynarda N. Burns of High Point.

Police said the suspect and the victim knew each other.

One neighbor said she has lived in this neighborhood for five years and has never seen so many police cars on her street.

"I got three girls total in the house, and I have two more but they are older, so three girls they're like what's going on mommy," Mari Cruz said. "It is a quiet neighborhood. I love my quiet neighborhood until Saturday. I was like oh my gosh, what are we going to do now?"

Burns was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

High Point police said he was placed in the Guilford County Jail in High Point without bond. Later, Burns was released from jail after paying a $250,000 secured bond, court documents said.

His next court date is in July.

Court documents also show Burns has a long criminal history.

He currently has other pending charges unrelated to this case that include communicating threats, injury to personal property and second-degree trespassing.
