Mother, daughter dead after shooting, suspect in custody, Greensboro police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is in custody after a shooting that killed a mother and a daughter in Greensboro Saturday.

Greensboro police said Ivy Gray, 41, and her daughter Kaile McLean, 22, were found shot around 12:44 a.m. on the 3000 block of Lawndale Drive.

Officers said the two have died from injuries from the shooting.

Investigators said witnesses provided them with a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.

An officer was able to find the vehicle at Cone Boulevard and Church Street and attempted to pull the car over.

The suspect continued to drive away and a chase began.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole on Yanceyville Street and Rankin Road.

Police identified the suspect as Justin Montrell Lyons, 28.

Lyons was taken into custody and taken to a hospital for injuries from the crash.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

No officers were injured in the chase.

Warrants for Lyons have been secured for two counts of First Degree Murder.

Officers said additional charges may be forthcoming and that they are not looking for any additional suspects.
