911 calls reveal new info about High Point armed robbery involving teen robbers

911 calls reveal the woman was visiting family from out of the country when she was robbed at gun point by two teenagers.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 911 call obtained by WFMY News 2 revealed a woman was threatened with a gun and robbed Monday allegedly by two 15-year-olds. She's one of two victims approached by the teenagers within a short time frame, according to High Point police.

High Point police said the first incident, an armed robbery, came into dispatch around 2:00 p.m. Monday.

The 911 calls reveal the victim of the first robbery, a woman, was exercising along the High Point Greenway when the crime happened. Within the call, the woman said she was visiting her parents from another country and hadn't seen the teens before.

She said two phones, car keys and her passport were stolen during the armed robbery. The same passport she needed to leave the country and return home Wednesday.

"They were wearing hoodies. They had their hoods pulled up, I remember turning around and seeing them and thinking I'm not going to freak out and then one of them ran up on me and pulled the gun and said, 'shorty drop everything and start running,'" The victim said during the 911 call. "So, I said can I have my passport? And he said, 'start running.' I just ran, took everything off of me and threw it on the ground, and ran."

Only a few minutes later, High Point police got another call, this time reporting an attempted armed robbery in Burnett Park allegedly performed by the same perpetrators. WFMY News 2 received the 911 calls for this crime too.

Within the call, the second suspect, a man, told dispatch he was taking his break in the park when two kids ran up to him, pulled a gun out, and tried to take all his stuff before running away.

"Yeah, they were on foot. They went right over here through those woods right there. Through Waverly Street. Yeah, they went this way," he told the operator.

In this instance, police say the robbers tried to take the man's tablet, but ultimately got away with nothing.

Officers found the two teenagers at a house on East Lexington Avenue. Both were charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and fraud.

Police said they found the woman's credit cards and phones at the home. We do not know if her passport was found as well.
